Several high-profile 1990s stars had their celebrity fade after facing major legal issues. From music moguls to renowned sitcom performers, individuals whose careers were indestructible eventually faced the law. Suge Knight, who formerly dominated the hip-hop world, faced growing cr1minal allegations, including a 2015 vehicular manslaughter conviction that resulted in a 28-year jail term.
Danny Masterson, famed for That ’70s Show, was also entangled in legal controversy. In 2020, Masterson faced charges for sexual assault dating back to the early 2000s, leading to a 30-year prison sentence and subsequent divorce filings from his wife.
The wrestling industry, too, has its share of scandals. Tammy “Sunny” Sytch, a former WWF star, was charged with numerous DUIs and sentenced to 17 years in jail following a tragic vehicle crash in 2022.
Some of these stars had their cases heightened by media scrutiny, including R. Kelly, whose decades-long allegations of abuse culminated in two major convictions. His charges brought widespread attention to systemic issues of abuse in the music industry.
Others, such as former football player Dave Meggett, had their sporting careers ruined by assault charges, with a 30-year prison sentence imposed in 2010. These incidents serve as a sharp reminder that fame does not provide immunity from accountability.
