Fans of NCIS: Los Angeles are still curious about what happened to Nell. Even missing one episode of the show can cause gaps in the timeline, such as this one.
A few episodes ago, fans watched as the character of Intelligence Analyst Nell Jones (played by Renée Felice Smith) began to wonder about her future.
The episode began with Nell telling Kensi (Daniela Ruah) that she had lost her love for the job and wasn’t sure if she wanted to be a part of the NCIS team any longer.
Later, after avoiding Eric (Barrett Foa) and Hetty (Linda Hunt) for the majority of the episode, Nell decided to meet with the team’s leader to discuss what might happen next.
What happened with Nell on NCIS Los Angeles..?
During Nell’s meeting with Hetty, the boss saw right through her intelligence analyst’s tough exterior. Hetty was aware that Nell was on the verge of leaving the team.
Before Nell could make an official statement or decision, Hetty suggested that she use some of the leave she had accrued over the course of her employment.
It was a good stalling tactic to give Nell a chance to change her mind and stay.
Hetty also told Nell that if she didn’t hear back from her analyst by the end of the leave, she’d know Nell’s decision to leave was final.
It was a kind gesture that kept the character’s arc open-ended.
Did Renée Felice Smith leave the NCIS: Los Angeles cast?
In a nutshell, it appears that actress Renée Felice Smith has left NCIS: L.A. There had been rumors that she wanted to pursue other opportunities, and this allows her to do so.
Smith is also in a position where she could decide to return to the show, which may or may not have already occurred, as the show does an excellent job of keeping things under wraps for an extended period of time.
We hope Smith reprises her role as Nell and that the story of her relationship with Eric develops further in the coming seasons. But first, we need confirmation from CBS that the show will return for Season 12.
Fans of the show should keep in mind that the season finale of NCIS: Los Angeles has been rescheduled for April 26.
