NCIS will return in the fall of 2022 for its historic 20th season. This will be the first season without Mark Harmon, who left the show at the end of Season 19. NCIS is still one of the most-watched shows on network television, and it has spawned three successful spinoffs.

NCIS averaged 11.11 million viewers this season, according to CBS, which renewed the show on Thursday. This season, the series moved to Mondays at 9 p.m. ET, a 149 percent increase over last season. It is the lead-in to NCIS: Hawai’i, which has also been renewed for a second season. NCIS: Los Angeles, which anchors CBS’ Sunday night lineup, will return in the fall for its 14th season.

“NCIS, one of the world’s most popular and enduring series, and fan favorite NCIS: Los Angeles have been hugely successful on the CBS schedule for years,” CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said on Thursday. “We are able to expand the strength of this formidable franchise across our schedule thanks to the strong new addition of NCIS: Hawai’i. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome back all three talented casts and creative teams to bring more compelling NCIS stories to viewers in the United States and around the world.”

NCIS premiered in September 2003, following the introduction of the first team in JAG Season 8. It is the third-longest-running scripted, non-animated primetime television series in the United States, trailing only Law & Order: Special V1ctims Unit and Law & Order. Harmon played NCIS Supervisory Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs for the first 18 seasons and only appeared in the first four episodes of Season 19. He is still an executive producer on the show, and his name appears in the opening credits.

Following Harmon’s departure, Gary Cole’s Alden Parker, a former FBI agent, was promoted to team leader. Sean Murray as Timothy McGee, Wilmer Valderrama as Nick Torres, Katrina Law as Jessica Knight, Brian Dietzen as Dr. Jimmy Palmer, Dion Easonover as Kasie Hines, David McCallum as Dr. Ducky Mallard, and Rocky Carroll as Leon Vance are the current main cast members. Murray and McCallum are the only remaining actors from Season 1 now that Harmon has left.

On Paramount+, you can watch all three NCIS shows. NCIS: New Orleans, which concluded its seven-season run last year, is also available on the streaming service. NCIS: Sydney, the first original international NCIS series, is being developed by Paramount+ Australia and Network 10. The season finales of NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i are set for Monday, May 23. The season of NCIS: Los Angeles concludes on Sunday, May 22.

CBS also renewed Young Sheldon, CSI: Vegas, Ghosts, The Neighborhood, and Bob Hearts Abishiola for the upcoming season. Tough As Nails, The Amazing Race, Survivor, and Secret Celebrity Renovation will all return. CBS has yet to renew the three FBI shows, though this should happen soon.
