NCIS Season 20 questions have been answered, as CBS has renewed the hit drama for another season.
The show has undergone numerous changes in recent years, the most notable of which is Mark Harmon’s departure as the show’s star.
Harmon returned to play Gibbs for a few more episodes at the start of NCIS Season 19, but it was only to satisfy fans by writing off the character in a satisfactory manner.
To fill Harmon’s role, the show cast Gary Cole as former FBI Agent Alden Parker. He is now in charge of the team that Gibbs used to lead, with the writers explaining that Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) didn’t want to be in charge.
NCIS has been renewed for Season 20.
With Mark Harmon’s departure, CBS moving the show to Monday nights, and the ratings taking a hit, there were many questions about whether CBS would order Season 20 or simply cancel NCIS.
CBS has now officially announced that NCIS will return for Season 20, with new episodes premiering in the fall of 2022. This means that, regardless of what happens in the final episodes of Season 19 this spring, the show will return for more action with the new television season.
“It’s official: #NCIS is returning for its 20th season!” Parker and the team are back for new cases and even more drama. “Who’s pumped?” reads the caption of an Instagram post that spells out Season 20 using images of the cast members.

NCIS Season 19 is currently on hiatus, with only a short wait until fans can watch more new episodes this spring. The hiatus began with the conclusion of the recent crossover event with NCIS: Hawai’i.
NCIS featured a slew of guest stars, a well-timed joke about TPS reports, and an intriguing story that took some of the characters to Hawai’i during that entertaining double feature. It also sets the tone for what’s to come, and there will undoubtedly be some exciting episodes as NCIS Season 19 concludes this May.
