The latest episode of NCIS LOS ANGELES sparked fan celebrations as series favorite Marty Deeks was finally made an official NCIS agent after his grueling FLETC training.

Marty Deeks (played by Eric Christian Olsen), a former Liaison Officer, was finally made an official NCIS agent years after his debut on NCIS: Los Angeles. Fans were ecstatic as the latest episode aired on CBS, though some of their joy was cut short by a last-minute twist.

Long time NCIS fans were thrilled by the latest episode of the show’s Los Angeles-based spin-off, ‘A Fait Accompli’.

The new instalment started off on a worrying note, as Deeks was sent home from NCIS training.

Meanwhile, Callen (Chris O’Donnell) had viewers on the edge of their seats as he summoned the courage to propose to his girlfriend, Anna Kolcheck (Bar Paly).

Episode nine, which aired just before the CBS series’s next midseason break, proved pivotal halfway through the spin-delayed off’s 12th season.

Thankfully, fans had reason to rejoice when Deeks was reunited with his wife Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) after their separation in last week’s episode.

Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt), Operations Manager, then caught Deeks off guard when she beamed in via video call to deliver the good news: he was now an official member of the NCIS team.

His promotion has been a long time coming, as he began the series as a Liaison Officer for the LAPD before being laid off as part of the department’s reorganization.

Deeks is now a permanent member of the team, and will most likely accompany Kensi and the other agents on their next mission, after 12 seasons.

As the episode aired, thrilled fans took to social media to celebrate Deeks’ passing with flying colours.

“Hetty always knew this day would come, which is why she wanted to give Deeks his badge, finally making him an official NCIS Special Agent,” one fan said.

“It was 12 years in the making, but may I just say… It’s About Time.”

Another excited viewer said: “Get the hell of out here! Deekster is a NCIS Agent?! Hell to the yes! In front of Hetty!!”

Unfortunately, the celebrations didn’t last for very long as episode nine dropped some devastating twists in the closing minutes.

First, Callen’s plans to propose to Anna were thwarted when he discovered she hadn’t been staying at the motel she had told him she would.

Their future together could be in jeopardy, as fans believe the Russian agent is lying about a covert mission that will be revealed in a later episode.

Finally, the most recent episode ended on a heartbreaking cliffhanger, with Kam Hanna (Kayla Smith) being grabbed at the last second by an unknown kidnapper.

When the series continues, Agent Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) will have to do whatever it takes to return his daughter to safety.

The new episodes received mostly positive reviews, though many fans expressed disappointment at yet another delay following this week’s game-changing cliffhangers.

“Hold on,” one fan joked. Sam’s son’s school is being held hostage. Kam has been kidnapped. This appears to be a rite of passage for any member of the Hanna family.”

The show may be revisiting some old ground, but millions of viewers will undoubtedly tune in when season 12 returns to see how Deeks fared on his first day on the team.
