Vanessa Lachey, star of NCIS Hawaii, has revealed the true reason CBS approved the recent three-way crossover event.

Vanessa Lachey stars as Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant on CBS’s hit drama NCIS Hawaii. The actress reflected on the franchises’ historic crossover and revealed why it happened.

The casts of NCIS, NCIS LA, and NCIS Hawaii will team up for the first time ever in a historic three-way crossover.

Despite the fact that season two began with Tennant’s team working alongside the NCIS agents, this will be the first time fans will see agents from all three shows share a scene.

Because the episodes were so well received, executives agreed to expand the crossover universe with the addition of NCIS LA.

With fans anticipating the historic episode, actress Vanessa Lachey revealed the true reason for the crossover’s approval.

“You know, it’s so funny, there was never like a grand plan,” she revealed.

“We had our [season one] finale for NCIS Hawaii where we did a crossover with NCIS, the OG, and it got so much amazing traction and support that we continued it with our season two premiere, with another crossover,” says the show’s creator, Chris Carter.

“At that point, the fans were saying, ‘You know, NCIS LA needs to join the party.'”

“To the point where it got the casts of all the different shows and the executives talking,” Vanessa added.

“And then, while I was filming our [second NCIS crossover], someone came in and said, ‘We’re doing it!'”

“It was literally something that came about because of all of the fans’ support, which kept propelling it forward,” Vanessa told TVLine.

Despite the fact that the crossover event was originally scheduled for January 2, the show confirmed it had been pushed back to the following Monday.

Despite the initial disappointment, after the release of its thrilling trailer, the uproar quickly turned into excitement.

“Brace yourselves for our BIGGEST crossover yet,” CBS wrote alongside the epic teaser.

“The #NCISCrossover Event kicks off Monday, January 9th with a three-show extravaganza all in one evening. “Be there or go home.”

Following Vanessa’s introduction, the trailer began with flashes of the upcoming episode, which showed Jane and Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) tied to chairs before having a black mask ripped off their heads.

Then an unidentified woman, played by Dawn Olivieri in Yellowstone, demanded, “You must tell me everything if you want to survive.”

In another episode, the agents are looking into the mysterious d3ath of a professor, with Gary Cole’s Alden Parker adding, “We follow the evidence until we find the truth.”

“I’m guessing you have a plan?” Sam asked Jane. “Take out the bad guys, pretty simple,” she replied.

“We are so excited to finally have the long-awaited, first-ever NCISverse crossover to share with our passionate, loyal viewers,” said Amy Reisenbach, CBS’ executive vice president of current programming.

“The franchise’s popularity, longevity, and continued success is a testament to the immense talent of the casts and writing and producing teams who bring these shows to life.

“They devised an exciting story for this epic three-hour event that creatively brings together all three NCIS teams for fans to enjoy in one night and beyond.”
