The 12th episode of Season 19 of NCIS, titled “Fight or Flight,” has just aired. However, it appears that this will be the last new episode for a while. While the Winter Olympics air on NBC, the most-watched drama on television will take a break. This means that NCIS fans will have to wait a little longer to see the episode written by star Brian Dietzen.

Following Mark Harmon’s departure, Brian Dietzen has taken on the role of ‘heart’ of ‘NCIS’

NCIS Season 19, Episode 12 focused on Agent Torres’ (Wilmer Valderrama) struggles and abandonment issues following the departure of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). Torres found himself in the middle of an underground fight club while working a case. After the fight, he sought medical attention from medical examiner Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).

Palmer tells Torres that he understands his rage at being abandoned as he works on him. He tells him that therapy is beneficial, but that sometimes people leave — even fathers or father figures like Gibbs. When this occurs, Palmer advises Torres to lean on the people in his life who are still there for him.

Palmer has become “the heart of the team,” according to Entertainment Weekly’s episode recap. And he should be moved “to the top of the credits” at this point.

Brian Dietzen has completed the first episode of his series.

Dietzen first appeared on NCIS in season 1 as Dr. Ducky Mallard’s (David McCallum) assistant. In season 10, he became a series regular. When Ducky retired and became NCIS historian in season 15, he took over as chief medical examiner.

Jimmy’s role on the show has grown significantly over the years. This season, Dietzen added a new title to his resume: NCIS writer. In November, the actor revealed on that he had finished writing his first episode.

“In a word… grateful,” Dietzen captioned an Instagram photo of himself holding his script. “You guys, I got to write a script for @ncis cbs with my pal @mostxsw [writer/executive producer Scott Williams], and it’s been a fantastic adventure so far.”

Dietzen did not reveal the title of the episode he wrote when he announced the news on Instagram. The question is, when will this occur..?

NCIS fans will have to wait because the show will be on hiatus while the Winter Olympics consume TV viewers.

New episodes will not be available until at least late February.

CBS has not confirmed that NCIS will take a break. However, networks have a history of showing reruns during Olympic games. The January 31 episode is a rerun of episode 3 “Road to Nowhere.” On February 7, CBS will broadcast an episode of Celebrity Big Brother during the NCIS time slot.

The Winter Olympics begin on Friday, February 4, and run through Sunday, February 20. This means that the first new NCIS episode will most likely air on Monday, February 21.
