Eric Christian Olsen’s life as a father is about to change dramatically for a bittersweet reason.

According to the video below, the NCIS actor has just finished filming the final season of NCIS: LA, which he has been a part of since 2009.

While the show’s cancellation is upsetting, Eric will have more time to spend with his wife, Sarah Wright, and their three young children. Winter is two years old, Esme is six, and Wyatt is nine.

Eric will no longer go to the NCIS set every day, which will be a significant change in the family dynamic that they have all grown accustomed to.

Not that Eric will be idle! Following the cancellation of NCIS:LA, the 45-year-old took to Instagram to announce that he will be executive producing the CBS reboot of the 1980s TV series Matlock.

In the caption of a news article he shared, he wrote: “I’m overjoyed to be collaborating with these creative powerhouses. Jennie, Joanna, Sierra, Bethany, Kathy, Kat, Anna, Meagen, and John, our @cbstvstudios and @cbstv LFG partners!!!!”

Eric will enjoy spending more time with his family.

Eric adores being a father and has previously admitted that fatherhood has made him a softie.

He also revealed that his co-stars Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J were parenting role models for him.

“Chris and LL were always talking about it — they wrap up for the day, and you just drive home because you get to see your family,” he explained.

Eric is extremely close to his family.

Eric also told Entertainment Tonight that having children taught him the true meaning of unconditional love.

“The most important thing I learned was the concept of unconditional love. Of course, that doesn’t mean there aren’t limits to that love. There are boundaries within that love, but the love is unconditional in the sense that you always have this safe haven.”
