After 12 seasons portraying the Reagans (and those closest to them), chances are Blue Bloods (or one of their other more recent roles) is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of TV stars.
However, each member of the cast got their start somewhere else (and some have more TV credits than others). Some debuted in single episodes of series or TV movies, while one was particularly famous for getting in the way of a popular’ship on Sex and the City.

Tom Selleck
Selleck, who plays Commissioner Frank Reagan, made his television debut in a 1969 episode of Lancer. Judd for the Defense, Bracken’s World, Sarge, and The Young and the Restless were among his other early TV roles. In 1978, he starred in The Gypsy Warriors.
Donnie Wahlberg
Wahlberg’s first TV appearance, as Detective Danny Reagan, was in the 1998 film The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. (See him with Vincent D’Onofrio and Richard Schiff above.) Purgatory, The Practice, Big Apple, and the miniseries Band of Brothers were among his other early TV credits.
Bridget Moynahan
Moynahan, who plays lawyer Erin Reagan, first appeared on television in 1999 in Sex and the City as Mr. Big’s (Chris Noth) wife, Natasha (shown above), a character she’d repeat in the sequel And Just Like That…. Her other television appearances include Six Degrees, Eli Stone, and the film Bunker Hill.
Will Estes
Sergeant Jamie Reagan first appeared on television in a 1987 episode of the soap opera Santa Barbara. Other early television roles for Estes include Murphy’s Law, Highway to Heaven, the films Miracle Landing and Menu for Murd3r, and Baywatch. Len Cariou
Cariou, who plays former Commissioner Henry Reagan, made his television debut in a 1963 episode of Quest. Festival, the film Who Will Save Our Children? (shown above with Shirley Jones), The Great Detective, and the film The Taming of the Shrew were among his early television credits.
Marisa Ramirez
Ramirez, who plays Detective Maria Baez, originally featured on television in 1997 as Gia Campbell in an episode of Port Charles, a character she would later reprise on General Hospital from 2000 to 2002. Her early television credits also include USA High, Roswell, CSI: Miami, and Miracles. She appeared in an episode of Supernatural with Erin Cahill and Kristin Booth Renne in 2008.
Vanessa Ray
Ray’s first TV appearance, as Officer Eddie Janko, was in an episode of Bored to D3ath in 2009. Her other television appearances include The Battery’s Down, Damages, As the World Turns, and White Collar. She can be seen above in Pretty Little Liars.
