What Frank Does on Blue Bloods That Fans Find Strange

Despite the challenges he’s endured, Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) takes great pleasure in his profession. In his job, he has both friends and opponents since he is driven by a strong sense of doing what is right.

Despite his occasional pride and arrogance, his deeds are fundamentally compassionate. Even when he makes mistakes, he genuinely cares about his children and the people under his charge.

While fans adore Frank Reagan, some are perplexed by certain habits that can be irksome, such as his constant sighing.

His brusque and autocratic demeanor also leaves a portion of the fanbase questioning the enjoyment of his company. One particular gesture discussed in the r/bluebloods subreddit keeps fans in suspense, ultimately revealing itself to be a deliberate part of Frank’s character with a specific purpose.

Frank’s frequent saluting is perplexing to fans.

“Does anyone Think Frank’s salute is weird[?]”u/epr3176 inquired of r/bluebloods members. According to the poll they ran on the subreddit, fans posting on the subreddit think the gesture unusual.

42 of the 96 persons who replied to the survey thought the gesture was strange, while 36 said they didn’t think it was strange at all. Undecided votes were cast by 14 members.

u/epr3176 highlighted Frank’s habit of saluting while sitting, which is seen as improper police procedure, as noted by u/kwilseahawk.

However, some fans argue that superior officers don’t have to stand when returning a salute. The discussion speculates that Frank’s saluting style might be influenced by his Marine background or possibly linked to his medical condition, with u/ohlordwhyisthishere suggesting arthritis as a potential factor.

Cops don’t appear to mind Tom Selleck’s saluting technique, according to him. Selleck highlighted receiving salutes from police officers on the streets in a 2015 interview with TVInsider, underlining that it’s a meaningful symbol of respect.

He expressed similar opinion again at PaleyFest New York in 2014, saying that the officer salutes moved him.
