Is NCIS: Los Angeles on its way out..?
The NCIS series has been running for nearly two decades. New Orleans is finished, but the newest iteration, Hawai’i, is off to a good start. Fans are now concerned about the future of the NCIS: Los Angeles spinoff.
Eric Christian Olsen, the show’s star, recently sparked some concern among fans with a social media post in which he may or may not have implied that the series is coming to an end. He also appeared to imply that a character might be on the chopping block.
Eric Christian Olsen, who plays lovable NCIS investigator Marty Deeks, took to Instagram to celebrate the show’s return from its winter hiatus. However, there were some dubious hashtags in the post. Check out what the actor added to his post’s caption below:
What Happened to Kensi in the Midseason Premiere?
The actor’s first questionable hashtag was #Kensidown. Daniela Ruah plays NCIS Special Agent Kensi Blye, who is also married to Deeks Olsen, played by Olsen. Kensi will be in Mexico for the midseason premiere, “Lost Soldier Down.” There’s no telling what she’ll get herself into south of the border, but if this hashtag is any indication, she could be in serious trouble.
While Kensi is in Mexico, the episode was actually directed by Daniela Ruah. With this in mind, it’s not surprising that her character will have little screen time in the upcoming installment. Fingers crossed that Ruah’s character isn’t truly “down,” and that Olsen only used the hashtag figuratively to indicate that his on-screen S.O. isn’t in the episode.
Could This Be the End of NCIS: Los Angeles?
Another hashtag that has fans worried is #thefinalseason, which implies that Season 13 may be the show’s final season. It should be noted that Eric Christian Olsen is known to tease his social media followers from time to time, so it’s difficult to tell whether he means it or not because it’s a little cryptic.
Last November, showrunner R. Scott Gemill was asked if Los Angeles would end after Season 13, and he said he didn’t know at the time. Even though that was only a few months ago, it’s possible that things have changed since then. There’s no word on when CBS might decide to renew the show, if they haven’t already, but fans can only hope that they won’t have to wait too long to find out.
NCIS: LA has had a long run, so it’s entirely possible that the show will be ending sooner rather than later. And even if it doesn’t happen this year, the series has done quite well for itself after 13 seasons. And, if this trend continues, let’s hope Kensi is along for the ride.
NCIS: Los Angeles returns to CBS tonight at 9 p.m. ET after a two-week hiatus! Check out CinemaBlend’s 2022 winter and spring schedule to see what other shows are coming up in the new year.
