It’s been nearly a decade since the last Jesse Stone movie, Lost in Paradise, which aired on October 18, 2015. The series, starring Tom Selleck, originally premiered on CBS, but after the eighth film, Benefit of the Doubt, the network decided the franchise didn’t appeal enough to younger viewers and declined to produce a ninth installment. Selleck then sold the script for Lost in Paradise to Hallmark, which aired it as the ninth film.
Following this, Selleck concentrated on Blue Bloods, which aired for thirteen years, putting Jesse Stone on the sidelines. This disappointed fans, especially since Lost in Paradise could not provide a satisfactory conclusion to the story. Selleck had stated desire to make a tenth picture, implying that he did not see the 2015 installment as the final chapter.
While the final scenes suggested potential character growth for Jesse, particularly in helping a fellow alcoholic, they also hinted at more stories to tell. As he sat with his new dog, Steve, gazing at the ocean, it felt more like a pause than a conclusion. Fans share the hope that Selleck will eventually return to his iconic role for another adventure.
