Tom Selleck Looks Completely Different from His Blue Bloods Character with Unrecognizable New Look

Tom Selleck, known for his iconic mustache and role as Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods, recently surprised fans with a dramatically different appearance. The 79-year-old actor was photographed in Thousand Oaks, California, sporting a bushy gray beard, unkempt hair, and a casual outfit of black shorts and a loose-fitting T-shirt layered with a navy shirt-marking a stark contrast to his usual polished look.

Selleck’s mustache has become as legendary as his acting performances, yet he considered chopping it off for his Blue Bloods character. Initially wishing to go clean-shaven like Frank Reagan, Selleck told People that CBS insisted he preserve his characteristic style. “They said no,” he explained.

Despite being synonymous with his mustache, Selleck downplays its importance. In a previous interview with The Telegraph, he remarked, “I was born without it… I don’t resent it, but there’s more to the work than a mustache.”

Selleck has been vociferous against CBS’ decision to terminate Blue Bloods as the show enters its last season, which will air this fall after 15 seasons. He remains optimistic that the network will reconsider, noting that Blue Bloods is still a highly rated program. “We’re doing good shows and still holding our place,” he told CBS News, adding that the group is excited to continue.

Though he acknowledges the challenges of working as he ages, Selleck isn’t ready to retire. “I want to work as long as they’ll have me,” he said, expressing his passion for the series.
