Tom Selleck, 79, attended PaleyFest in New York on Thursday, sporting a fresh new look. The Blue Bloods star, who is known for his iconic mustache, surprised fans with a full beard and longer gray hair as he reunited with castmates Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Marisa Ramirez, Vanessa Ray, and Len Cariou.
The event at The Paley Museum included an advanced screening of one of the show’s final episodes, followed by a cast conversation.
Selleck’s mustache has been a trademark throughout his career, although he pondered going clean-shaven for his role as Frank Reagan. He told People that CBS bosses insisted he keep his mustache, despite his initial willingness to conform.
Reflecting on the series’ cancellation after 14 years, Selleck expressed frustration. In a recent interview with TV Insider, he highlighted the show’s consistent success, noting it ranked among the top programs of 2023-2024. “My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go,” he said.
CBS announced the cancellation of Blue Bloods in November 2023, with the last season divided into two parts. The actor confessed that it will take time to adjust to the show’s ending: “It’s just going to take a while.”
Despite his disappointment, Selleck remains upbeat, focusing on the memories created over the show’s remarkable run.
