The Sad Reason Tom Selleck Is Bidding Farewell

Tom Selleck, well known for his legendary roles on Magnum PI and Blue Bloods, has captivated audiences for decades. Despite his celebrity, Selleck has maintained a private life, frequently retreating to his California ranch away from the Hollywood glare. Recent speculations claim he may retire from acting, adding intrigue to his already brilliant career.

Born in Detroit in 1945, Selleck’s journey into entertainment began at the University of Southern California, where his passion for acting ignited. After a hiatus due to military service during the Vietnam War, he pursued acting fervently, landing the role of Thomas Magnum, which became synonymous with his early career.

Following Magnum PI, Selleck moved on to movies, most famously appearing in the critically acclaimed Western Quigley Down Under, before becoming a regular on Friends. His career took off with Blue Bloods, where he played the patriarch of a family of law enforcement officials, reigniting his status as a television icon.

Beyond his acting pursuits, Selleck values family and a simple lifestyle, often finding solace at his ranch. Despite retirement rumors, he remains devoted to his craft, expressing a willingness to continue acting as long as audiences remain engaged.

As Blue Bloods prepares for its 12th season, fans eagerly await its return, despite the show’s future remains uncertain beyond this season. Selleck, now 76, admits that the series’ survival is dependent on audience support, allowing opportunity for potential future seasons.

While retirement may loom on the horizon, Selleck’s enduring dedication to storytelling and connection with audiences ensure his legacy will endure in the hearts of fans for years to come.

  1. It is a shame to lose a fabulous show that speaks so strongly about family values. Shows like this are few and far between. Not only is there a sense of professionalism in the cast, but a real sense of purpose in their performances. We need more of Blue Bloods, not less. It’s a phenomenal show.

  2. Blue Bloods show has been one of the highly watched TV show in CBS history. Why would CBS let this show stop? I did not appreciate the fact that all the Blue Blood actors took a cut in earnings to allow the program to continue one more year. I think that sucks. If CBS does not want to continue this GREAT program, then Blue Bloods should get new producers and go to another TV company like ABC or NBC. I bet there are many producers out there to make this GREAT show continue. If there are none, then I would be happy to put my time and money in to make this happen………or am I talking to the wind and no one wants this GREAT program to continue?

  3. I love watching Blue Bloods. It’s one of my FAVORITE shows. Please keep it going. If he leaves, it still can go on. We love all the others too.

  4. It would certainly be nice to see this excellent TV show continue to be produced by someone other than CBS. They obviously don’t appreciate the brillant actors and actresses on Blue Bloods or the enormous amount of fans. I wish someone would step in and allow Blue Bloods to continue. It is an excellent show and there are so many fans who wish to see this type of show to continue either by another station or someone who is willing to step up and make this happen. Thank you.

    • I like Tom Selleck. I also liked him in the other more laid back role as the sheriff Jesse. He also graduated from Van Nuys High as did Robert Redford.

I am 77 going on 78. I was born in 1947. If Tom Selleck was born in 1945, depend the date, he is either 78 going on 79 or 79 going on 80.

Another detective, Friday, always said he wanted “Just the facts Ma’am, just the facts.”

As for Tom Selleck’s future—that’s up to Tom. II wish him well in whatever HE decided to do😎

  5. I search all the channels to find reruns of “Blue Bloods.” I would hate to see this show come to an end. I love on Sundays they all gather at the family table for dinner. That’s a tradition that is fading away!!!

  6. The cast of Blue Blood has worked so hard to begin a new season and they should be commended for this. The people who have made it a difficult journey for us as fans for this fantastic show deserve a lesson in listening to the people.
WE LOVE BLUE BLOOD so keep it on.

I have never seen such outpouring by the fans to keep a show going and the powers that be want listen. We as fans have spoken and looks like we won round #1.
