Shannen Doherty, beloved actress known for her roles in “Charmed” and “90210”, has passed away at 53 following a long battle with breast cancer. Diagnosed in 2015, Doherty faced her illness with remarkable courage and transparency, sharing her journey with fans.
Doherty’s cancer was first identified as invasive breast cancer that had migrated to a lymph node. She underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and other therapies until reaching remission in 2017. However, in 2020, she reported that her cancer had returned at stage four.
In 2023, Doherty’s cancer metastasized to her brain and bones. Despite undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor and starting a new treatment plan in early 2024, she sadly lost her battle with cancer on July 13, 2024.
Her publicist confirmed her death, writing, “It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty.” She passed away on Saturday, July 13, after a long battle with cancer.
Fans and colleagues have taken to social media to express their grief and admiration. Actor Eric West shared, “My heart is broken. It was a pleasure to meet Shannen while filming ‘Fortress’. She was full of warm energy and positive vibes. So young. So talented. May she rest well.”
A Twitter user remarked, “Another childhood hero has passed away. Shannen Doherty left us far too soon. Thanks to the great Brenda Walsh and Prue Halliwell.” Someone more replied, “Rip Shannen Doherty:(you will be very missed, thank you for playing such a monumental part in my childhood.”
Shannen Doherty’s legacy as a TV icon will continue to inspire fans around the world.
