Sean Murray, star of NCIS, shared a heartfelt message with fans following the show’s renewal for its 22nd season. Taking to Instagram, Murray, who plays Agent Timothy McGee, thanked the show’s loyal audience and crew, writing, “Thanks to everyone for continuing to stick with us… season 22 of #NCIS coming at ya soon ;)”.
The announcement elicited a lot of excitement from fans, as evidenced by the comments section. Despite the positive news, Murray noted in a recent interview that no character is completely safe, raising questions about his future on the program. “No one is quite safe… but you never know what’s going to happen,” he told me.
CBS’s renewal of NCIS was expected, as the show has been the number-one broadcast drama for the past five seasons. CBS Entertainment chief Amy Reisenbach praised both NCIS and fellow renewed show The Neighborhood, saying they represent “authentic storytelling with heart, humor, and family dynamics.”
Additionally, NCIS: Sydney has been renewed for a second season, and while the status of NCIS: Hawai’i is still unknown, cast member Jason Antoon has disclosed that he is in talks to direct one episode of season four, indicating hope for the show’s future.
