Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska and 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee, remains a prominent and polarizing figure in American politics and media.

Palin’s political journey began in the 1990s when she served on the Wasilla City Council before becoming the town’s mayor in 1996. Her leadership style was direct and reform-focused, traits that carried into her tenure as Alaska’s governor from 2006 to 2009.
As governor, she received national prominence for her economic policies, energy initiatives, and anti-corruption attitude. However, rising legal challenges and political criticism prompted her sudden departure in 2009.
