Pauley Perrette’s exit from NCIS was met with criticism, but the production was able to write her character out by having Abby leave after a terrible incident involving a hitman and the death of MI6 Agent Clayton Reeves, who died protecting her. Abby moved to the United Kingdom to establish a nonprofit in Reeves’ name, honoring his legacy while dealing with her trauma.
With Michael Weatherly’s Tony DiNozzo returning in NCIS season 21 and teaming up with Cote de Pablo’s Ziva for their own spinoff, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, there’s a perfect opportunity for Abby’s return. The spinoff will follow Tony and Ziva as they navigate Europe with their daughter, Tali, while being pursued by unknown forces. Trust will be crucial, and Abby, a loyal and trusted ally, would be the perfect addition to their team.
Despite her conflicts with Mark Harmon, Perrette has a positive relationship with the rest of her former NCIS co-stars, making her comeback possible. NCIS: Tony & Ziva has the opportunity to bring back the iconic character Abby, much to the pleasure of fans.
