“Who is Gibbs most reliant on?” asked one Reddit user recently. Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) is the most dependable of the bunch, according to the original poster, PrivateHawk124.
“I believe it’s Dinozzo!” On the board, PrivateHawk124 stated. “He said he was the best young agent he’s ever worked with and relies on him!”
The Redditor went on to say that while he believes Gibbs (Mark Harmon) has a strong team on his NCIS team. DiNozzo is the person he has placed the most trust in.
“Regardless of his relationship with Franks, Jenny, or Ziva, I think subtly Gibbs always relied on and trusted Dinozzo the most,” the post continued. The poster went on to say that this is just his assumption because Gibbs is always difficult to read.
“Obviously difficult to tell because man hardly shows any emotions,” PrivateHawk124 commented. “What are your thoughts?”
Tony DiNozzo is possibly Gibbs’ most dependable teammate.
The majority of the responses agreed with PrivateHawk124’s assessment. Many Redditors agreed that Tony DiNozzo was Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ most trustworthy teammate. One Redditor cited a series example to suggest Tony is the teammate Gibbs would lean on the most.
“Tony,” said the Redditor. The poster backed up their theory by mentioning the season eleven episode “Once a Crook.” Tony discovers a clue in purple chewing gum in the episode. In the episode, Gibbs tells DiNozzo that he can trust him at any time.
“Tony isn’t sleeping, and it’s been weeks since Ziva left, and he tells Gibbs in the bathroom that he can’t trust his own instincts anymore,” they said. “Gibbs then says I’d put my trust in you at any time.”
Another poster mentioned Gibbs’ friendship with another character, Donald Mallard. (Ducky). According to the poster, while the NCIS team leader is close to Ducky (David McCallum), DiNozzo is the one on whom he has relied the most.
Although DiNozzo is the favorite, the entire NCIS team is a fan favorite.
Another Redditor stated that, while they are a fan of Ducky and believe he will always be a favorite, they do not believe he is the character on whom Gibbs relies the most. “In my opinion, Gibbs relies the most on Dinozzo in case something goes wrong and they need to react with guns,” the Redditor explained.
“He has a lot of faith in Tony,” another poster agreed. “Tony saved his life and provided some of the best team leadership while Gibbs was away.”
Tony DiNozzo appeared to be the one on whom Gibbs appeared to rely the most. Some Redditors, however, believed that other NCIS team members would be Gibbs’ go-to.
“It’s difficult to say because Leroy Jethro Gibbs cares about everyone in his own way, but he also depends on each of them in different ways,” another Redditor observed. “He knows they’re all different people with different strengths, weaknesses, skills, and backgrounds, so I don’t think Gibbs would hold them all to the same yardstick of ‘who’s better or not.”
The Redditor also stated that if they had to choose one, it would not be DiNozzo, but rather NCIS field agent Timothy McGee. “However, if I had to pick someone, I’d have to say McGee.”
