NCIS: Tony and Ziva is shaping up to be the most anticipated spinoff in the franchise. Unlike NCIS: Sydney or NCIS: Origins, this one reunites longtime fan favorites Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) in a direct sequel to the flagship series.
After years of absence, fans won’t have to wait much longer. While Michael Weatherly had hinted at a December release, Paramount Plus has now confirmed the show will debut this fall much earlier than expected.
This marks the first time an NCIS show will premiere exclusively on streaming. CBS Studios president David Stapf explained: “It was always designed to be a streaming show… Reuniting [Tony and Ziva] with a global audience is the intent.”
Although it won’t air on the traditional CBS network, the move to Paramount Plus allows for a more serialized and cinematic format similar to what Law & Order: Organized Cr1me is doing with its upcoming Peacock season. The streaming format also enables more mature storytelling and deeper character arcs.
Fans of the Tony-Ziva romance are in for a treat this fall.
