Emily Wickersham sh0cked fans when she announced her departure from NCIS after eight years as Special Agent Eleanor Bishop.
While the actress, who joined the show in 2013 after Cote de Pablo left, left the long-running CBS show in 2021, fans haven’t forgotten her and frequently express their desire for her return. So, where is she now, and will she be able to return to the drama?
Emily hasn’t added to her list of screen credits since leaving NCIS, and she has no upcoming projects, according to her IMDb page. We have a feeling that this will change soon, as she recently shared a screenshot of her camera roll, which was filled with self-tape auditions.
In the caption, she wrote, “Tape town.”
Fans were quick to express their delight in the comments section, with one person writing, “Omg r u acting again,” and another encouraging, “Book it!”
In terms of Emily returning to NCIS, her character’s exit storyline has left the door open. In season 18, Agent Bishop was thrown into the middle of an investigation after an NSA leak. While she eventually admitted to leaking the documents, she later admitted to Agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) that she had purposefully jeopardized her position.
The agent explained that she had accepted an undercover mission with the CIA that required her to end her career at NCIS.
While Agent Bishop was still alive and well when she left the service, Emily hasn’t hinted at a possible return to the drama, so we can assume she won’t be returning anytime soon.
So, why has Emily been absent from our screens since her departure from the show? The actress may have taken a break from acting after the birth of her first child, Cassius, in December 2021. Six months after the couple went public with their relationship in June 2021, the 38-year-old welcomed her son with fellow actor James Badge Dale.
Emily frequently posts adorable photos of Cassius and her partner James, who is known for his roles as Chase Edmunds in the Fox TV drama 24, as well as John Dutton Sr. in the Yellowstone prequel series, 1923.
Emily paid a touching tribute to James and her son on Valentine’s Day in February. She captioned a series of adorable photos of James and Cassius, “My valentines.” My sweethearts. You’ve changed my life in the best possible ways.”
