During their time on NCIS, Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo cemented themselves as one of the CBS drama’s most beloved pairings. Fans may see them together again very soon, thanks to a hint from actor Michael Weatherly.
Ziva (played by Cote de Pablo) delighted fans when she reappeared, albeit briefly, in season 17 of NCIS. Her second stint on the show came to an end when she packed her belongings and decided to travel to Paris to reunite with Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly). While CBS viewers were informed of their off-screen reunion later in the series, actor Michael has left fans ecstatic with a series of tweets hinting that they may be on-screen together soon.
Tony hasn’t been seen on NCIS since 2016, taking a much longer break than Ziva.
Nonetheless, he and Ziva were destined to be together, as his child’s mother flew to Paris earlier this year to be with him.
Tony’s father confirmed their reunion in a heartfelt note, describing himself as the “happiest pop-pop ever” upon learning that his son and Ziva had been reunited.
Shortly after the scenes aired on CBS, actor Michael took to Twitter to address fans, and he wasted no time in setting the rumor mill ablaze.
“Hello,” Michael tweeted. The most important thing to remember about DiNozzo Sr. is that he is extremely trusting.
“The majority of con men are. You didn’t witness a family reunion (or a long-ago d3ath!) so maybe it didn’t happen?”
Fans immediately speculated on what Michael meant by the tweet: did he mean that he and Ziva aren’t actually together?
Or does his use of the phrase “hold out” imply that they may be reuniting very soon?
Viewers of NCIS quickly questioned the actor about the true meaning of his tweets.
“Soooooo you’re saying there’s a chance?” one Tiva fan inquired. [Laughter emoji]
“So… We wait, please make it happen!” pleaded a second. Don’t play with us, Weatherly! NCIS ‘TIVA’.”
“Stop! Stop! Stop!” exclaimed another supporter. Unless you can pull it off [love heart emoji].”
While a fourth person chimed in, “Are you hinting at a ‘Tiva’ reunion?”
The calls from NCIS fans didn’t stop Michael from igniting the fire even more, as he shared another tweet a few days later hinting that Tony and Ziva might reunite.
Michael responded to a fan who asked, “Where in the world is Cote de Pablo?” with a tweet.
“Are you still close friends? I’m still upset about the non-existent TIVA Reunion Finale! What a huge disappointment for diehard fans after 15 years!”
Instead of dismissing the call for a Tiva comeback, Michael simply stated, “Yes, that piqued my interest.”
If it has piqued his interest, could he finally respond to fans’ calls for the pair to reunite on-screen?
Fans will have to keep watching the most recent season of NCIS to find out, though many are dissatisfied with the fact that the show is currently on hiatus.
Instead of returning to its weekly Tuesday slot on CBS on February 25, the drama was delayed until March 10.
