NCIS Spinoff’s Origins Linked to a Long-Gone Character from the OG Show

The NCIS universe is expanding, with two new spinoffs planned to premiere alongside NCIS season 22 and NCIS: Origins, which focuses on Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ early years. One spinoff revisits Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David’s narrative, reigniting fan interest in characters long absent from the main series.

Ziva David, portrayed by Cote de Pablo, made her debut in NCIS season 3, replacing Caitlin Todd on the MCRT team. Todd, played by Sasha Alexander, met a tragic end in season 2, a pivotal moment etched in fans’ hearts even decades later. Despite Todd’s departure, her impact lingers, setting the stage for subsequent story arcs, including the eagerly anticipated Tony & Ziva spinoff.

The next series owes its existence to these founding characters and the lasting impact they have had on the NCIS brand.
