NCIS Fans Touched by Heartfelt Tribute to ‘Ducky’ star David McCallum in Season 22

NCIS fans were affected by a moving tribute to the late David McCallum, who played Donald “Ducky” Mallard since the show’s debut. McCallum died in September 2023 at the age of 90, leaving an indelible mark on the series and its viewers.

Season 22, which recently premiered, honored McCallum in an episode titled The Stories We Leave Behind, centering on a retrospective cold case that celebrated Ducky’s legacy. In the third episode, The Trouble With Hal, the team paid another sweet tribute by repurposing Ducky’s former office.

Agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) proposed turning the room into a gym, which sparked disagreement. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) eventually supported the proposal, knowing Ducky would agree. Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) insisted on keeping the office’s old files, whereas Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover) utilized it for meditation. The crew ultimately opted to call it the “Dr. Donald Mallard Memorial Multi-Purpose Room.” When Vance joked about the lengthy title, Jimmy suggested the nickname “Ducky’s,” which immediately spread.

Fans praised the tribute on social media, with one writing, “Meet me at Ducky’s Place… A perfect nod to our beloved Dr. Mallard.” Another said, “Ducky’s office is now a multi-purpose room. I love it.”

This heartfelt gesture showcases the show’s enduring respect for McCallum and his cherished character.
