CBS has officially revealed the release date for “NCIS: Origins,” a new prequel series from the NCIS universe. The highly anticipated show is set to premiere this fall.
However, this new addition to the NCIS roster will take up the time slot previously held by “NCIS: Hawai’i.” The network took the surprising decision to discontinue “NCIS: Hawai’i” midway through its third season, making place for “NCIS: Origins” to broadcast immediately following fresh episodes of the original “NCIS.”
Fans are eagerly awaiting the early ratings, especially with Mark Harmon playing a significant role in the production. Best known for his portrayal of Leroy Jethro Gibbs on “NCIS,” Harmon left the series when his character retired to Alaska. However, his involvement in “NCIS: Origins” as both the executive producer and narrator has sparked renewed excitement.
Viewers continue to hope that Gibbs would return to “NCIS” before the show’s finale, but for now, they can look forward to Harmon’s appearance in this new prequel drama.
When Does the First Episode of NCIS: Origins Air?
The first episode of NCIS: Origins will broadcast on Monday, October 14, immediately following the season premiere of NCIS. The first night will feature a special two-hour episode to introduce the new format, focused on Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Mike Franks’ early days at NCIS.
Starting on October 21, the show will move to its regular timeslot at 10/9c for the rest of Fall 2024. Episodes will air on CBS and be available for streaming on Paramount+.
The show stars Austin Stowell as a young Gibbs, with a teaser video generating buzz for the series. The caption for the teaser reads, “Gear up, probie – we’re throwing it all the way back to the 90s. 👏 #NCISOrigins premieres Monday, October 14 on CBS.
