NCIS star Mark Harmon Confirmed to Return for Iconic Role – But It’s Not Gibbs

Mark Harmon, known for his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS, is set to return to one of his other iconic roles. Harmon departed NCIS in season 19, with Gary Cole taking over as Agent Alden Parker. Fans are hopeful for a Gibbs comeback, but Harmon’s latest role will see him in a different light.

Harmon has been confirmed to join the cast of “Freaky Friday 2” for Disney, resuming his role as Ryan from the 2003 picture. In the original, Ryan is engaged to Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis), the mother of Lindsay Lohan’s character Anna Coleman.

Disney announced the sequel’s production on June 24 with an Instagram post featuring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. The sequel, set to release in 2025, promises to bring back the beloved characters and some new faces, including Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons. Nisha Ganatra will direct the film.

Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao are among the returning cast members. Mark Harmon has been photographed filming in Los Angeles but has not commented on his return.

The sequel will have a theatrical release, despite rumors of it being a Disney+ exclusive. Fans can look forward to seeing Harmon and the original cast back in action.
