‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Showrunner Explains Why Bringing Hetty Back Was So Important

There was a special treat in the most recent NCIS three-show crossover for all you NCIS: Los Angeles fans. Do you recall what it was? Hetty appeared! Hetty Lange is a well-known character who hasn’t been seen in a while. Nonetheless, she found herself in an unusual situation.

Other characters who appeared in the crossover included Chris O’Donnell as G Callen, LL Cool J as Sam Hanna, and Vanessa Lachey from NCIS: Hawai’i as Jane Tennant. The viewers were pleasantly surprised when Hetty appeared.

As Part Of The NCIS Crossover, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Provided A Stellar Hetty Moment

NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner R Scott Gemmill discusses actress Linda Hunt’s cameo at the end of the big event. According to Express, NCIS: Los Angeles wrapped up the crossover event by bringing back enemies and rescuing kidnapped colleagues.

Despite her recent absence from NCIS: Los Angeles, Hetty was on hand to give the team some much-needed advice during their darkest hour. Callen and Hanna both received coded text messages that, when decoded, revealed an audio message from Hetty. It contained information about Hollace Kilbride, played by Gerald McRaney.

“It sounds like you’re in a bit of a pickle,” she says to the team. “I warned Hollis that his Simon Williams days would catch up with him. You’re all very capable, and it’s not for me to tell you what to do. But you should contact an old friend, Gwen Johns…”

Hetty Lange Helps Her Team Just in Time

Hetty did not show up in person. However, her tip led the agents to a Hollywood casting agent. He gave them a d3ad ringer for Kilbride to use in luring out some of the bad guys. “The triple crossover was such a big deal for all of our NCIS families,” Gemmill says. “It was critical to have Hetty involved, even if she was physically unavailable.”

Hunt, the long-running NCIS: Los Angeles star, has sadly been absent from the action. This is due in part to C0V1D 19 restrictions imposed on the show in 2020.

Meanwhile, in other show-related news, we learn that Eric Christian Olsen is working on four new projects for CBS. On NCIS: Los Angeles, Olsen plays Marty Deeks. We learn from his Cloud Nine Productions that two comedies and two dramas are currently in production or development. Peculiar will be a cr1me thriller. Finally, Lost co-creator Jeffrey Lieber and America 2.0 producer JS Mayank will serve as executive producers, according to CinemaBlend.
