Daniela Ruah, star of NCIS: Los Angeles, hasn’t been seen in the last few episodes of the CBS drama’s 14th season.
Kensi Blye (played by Daniela Ruah) will return to the world of NCIS: Los Angeles in January as part of the CBS franchise’s historic three-way crossover, but she’s been missing from the action for the past few weeks. However, the NCIS LA star has taken to social media to express her pride in a separate project that will be released soon, as she juggles work on and off the long-running cr1me series.
Ruah may be known to NCIS LA viewers as the endearing Kensi, thanks in part to her onscreen chemistry with onscreen husband Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), but she’s also no stranger to lending her talents behind the scenes.
The Kensi actress has directed several NCIS LA episodes and will direct the 14th episode of season 14, titled Shame.
But Ruah didn’t stop there, taking to Instagram to express her joy at the release of her new Portuguese-language project, Os Vivos, O Morto, e o Peixe Frito.
“The 2nd project I ever directed is airing soon (in Portugal), and I can finally share the trailer!” Ruah wrote alongside a trailer for the new film.
“I’m so proud of this movie, cast and crew,” she continued, before thanking the production companies.
“Thank you @ukbarfilmes and grateful for the kindness and hospitality of @torresvedrascm,” she concluded.
Ruah does not appear in the film, but the cast includes Igor Regalla, Soraia Tavares, Daniel Martinho, Mina Andala, Matamba Joaquim, and Mauro Hermnio.
Needless to say, Ruah’s fans were quick to congratulate her, including words of encouragement from a few familiar faces.
Medalion Rahimi, who plays Fatima in the CBS series NCIS: Los Angeles, commented: “This looks incredible!!! “Can’t wait to see,” she said, followed by a heart-eyed emoji.
Fan @ivana d147 added, “I am very proud of you no matter what you do in your life.” Just know that I will always be there for you. Dani, congratulations.”
“Congratulations, director Dani,” @brucemclean19570 added. Your abilities never cease to astound me.”
“Nice!” said @learneuportuguese. Congratulations! This will be a hit with my Portuguese students! We’re always looking for good Portuguese content to show you.”
“So proud of you and this amazing team,” Instagram user @nat.cavalcanti simply added. (sic)
For the time being, it is unknown when the film will be released in the United Kingdom or the United States, but Ruah is clearly overjoyed that it will be available in Portugal soon.
Meanwhile, NCIS LA has gone on hiatus for the winter after the action-packed Let It Burn.
When Kensi returns on January 2, she’ll be joined by NCIS Hawaii’s Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and NCIS’s Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law).
On December 5, TVLine shared some exclusive photos from the set of the historic crossover, and it appears that Ruah and her co-stars had a great time.
Ruah is joined in one smiley snap by Rahimi, Lachey, and NCIS Hawaii star Yasmine Al-Bustami.
Ruah is also seen in NCIS protective gear, joking with Valderrama and Lachey in between shots.
Whatever drama the crossover brings, it will undoubtedly be a must-see event for NCIS fans everywhere.
