Fans were devastated when CBS announced the cancellation of NCIS: Los Angeles, but LL Cool J hinted that Sam Hanna could appear elsewhere in the franchise.
Although NCIS Los Angeles was the first of the NCIS franchise’s spin-offs, it will officially end after season 14. While many are anticipating the dreaded finale, fans may see Sam Hanna (played by LL Cool J) appear in another NCIS show.
The cancellation of NCIS: Los Angeles came as a huge surprise to fans all over the world.
Since 2009, millions of people have tuned in to CBS to see which Navy cr1m1nal case the experienced agents will take on next.
Although the precise reasons for the cancellation have not been disclosed, Deadline speculated that it could be due to budget cuts.
While viewers were still reeling from the sh0cking announcement, LL Cool J remained optimistic about his character’s future.
“Well, I gotta tell you it’s not hard at all, CBS did an amazing thing with us; it’s been an amazing run,” he said of the show’s success.
“We’re not talking about two and a half or three years and saying, ‘Oh it was fun while it lasted.'”
LL Cool J told Entertainment Tonight, “This was 14 years ago. So, I believe the show has done exceptionally well.”
The Sam Hanna star went on to say that Vanessa Lachey of NCIS Hawaii approached him about appearing on her show.
LL hinted at this possibility when discussing his character’s future.
“I’ll definitely keep that invitation in mind, Vanessa, and you never know,” he teased. We’ll have to wait and see what happens. We’ll see if I come play for a while.”
The last time fans saw Sam and Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) collaborate closely was during the epic three-hour crossover event.
The crossover was a smashing success, with characters from NCIS, NCIS LA, and NCIS Hawaii collaborating on life-saving investigations.
Fatima (Medalion Rahimi) and Roundtree (Caleb Castille) were both shot during an NCIS LA episode.
They were sent to Kilbride’s (Gerard McRaney) impersonal house, where they were att4cked by gunmen who captured Roundtree and left Fatima shaken.
A familiar voice thankfully returned to assist the team, as Sam and Callen unlocked a cryptic text that revealed Hetty Lange’s (Linda Hunt) secret message.
The agents were able to find Roundtree and Kilbride thanks to her assistance.
The crossover was a huge success for NCIS LA, garnering a whopping 6.7 million viewers, making it the show’s largest audience since April 2020.
As Deadline reported, “the cancellation of a long-running drama with big-name leads filming in LA should not come as a surprise given the big price tag involved, especially at a time when networks across the board are looking to cut their spending.”
When the news first broke, LL Cool J posted photos of the cast on social media and wrote, “This NCIS Crossover was a huge success!” After 14 seasons, now is the time to wrap up @NCISLA on a high note!
“I am excited to continue working with @CBSTVStudios. They invested in our series B round and joined forces with @RockTheBells as a strategic partner — more exciting things are on the way!”
