Eric Christian Olsen, star of NCIS: Los Angeles, is an emotional man. He misses his coworkers whenever they are away for an extended period of time.
You’re probably familiar with Olsen’s face right away. He is best known for his role as NCIS: Los Angeles Detective Marty Deeks on CBS. While Olsen plays a handsome detective on the show, he’s basically a soft teddy bear off-screen.
In a 2019 interview with CarterMatt.com, he described what it was like to have Barret Foa back on set after a long absence. That year, Foa took a leave of absence to appear in a production of Angels in America.
“Angels in America” is one of Olsen’s favorite plays. “For him to go deep into that kind of work and then come back… It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. When you return, it affects everything else we do. Such opportunities, and the fact that CBS and [R. Scott Gemmill] and [John Peter Kousakis] our writers gave him the chance to go do that, are so human. It’s a fantastic example of humanity.”
Olsen believes that the success of NCIS: Los Angeles is due to acts of kindness and humanity.
“This is a big hit TV show that has serious restrictions and they always choose the human element. In this case, the human element was allowing Barrett to go do Angels in America. Our show is better because of it. The term “electronic commerce” refers to the sale of electronic goods. Because he’s bringing that to this role, that episode in San Francisco is going to be fantastic. It was great to see him again. We missed him deeply.”
For those wondering, Foa has since left the show permanently.
‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ The actor also misses his co-stars.
During the same interview, Eric Christian Olsen mentions missing a couple of coworkers who aren’t on the set of NCIS: Los Angeles. The term “electronic commerce” refers to the sale of electronic goods.
Miguel Ferrer is one of them. From 2012 to 2017, Ferrer portrayed NCIS Assistant Director Owen Granger on the show. Unfortunately, he died in 2017 as a result of throat cancer.
The other, of course, is Linda Hunt. She has been playing the endearing character of Henrietta “Hetty” Lange on the hit show since 2009.
“We’ve suffered a significant loss. I don’t go a day without thinking about Miguel and what he brought to the show and the family. Linda [Hunt] is now in and out of the picture. We missed Barrett and we miss Linda when she’s not around, and I think about Miguel every day.”
Thankfully, though, Hetty is back full-time in the current season.
