For fans of NCIS, season 22 brings a complicated update on Jessica Knight and Jimmy Palmer’s relationship. After the season 21 finale, where Knight accepted a job at Camp Pendleton following Jimmy’s suggestion to end things, their romance was left unresolved.
According to showrunner Steven D. Binder, viewers will see the two now adjusting to life as single individuals-especially Jimmy, who’s started dating again, adding new layers of tension.
Binder revealed that the season opens six months after the ending, with Knight and Jimmy still dealing with their split. They’ll reunite more than once, beginning when Knight’s decision during a hostage scenario puts her in danger, sparking an emotional “Part 2” chat between them. This will continue in episode 4, amid high-stakes drama as they face lingering emotions.
Jimmy’s daughter, Victoria, remains hopeful they’ll reunite, humorously tracking their “breakup days” in her texts to him. Despite Jimmy’s new dating life, he and Knight aren’t completely over each other. Binder assures that this storyline will give fans plenty of heartfelt, tension-filled moments-perhaps even leading to a reconciliation.
