The star’s mother abandoned her when she was 9-years-old.
Vanessa Lachey is best known for her role as Jane Tennant in the hit CBS spin-off drama NCIS: Hawai’i, as well as for co-hosting Netflix’s reality show Love Is Blind with her husband Nick Lachey.

Vanessa moved to Turkey with her mother, Helen Bondoc, and older brother after her parents divorced when she was three, before returning to the United States when the Gulf War began in 1990.
Vanessa was nine years old when her mother dropped her and her brother off at their father, Vincent Minnillo’s, home in Los Angeles, promising to return.
However, over the next decade, the now 42-year-old would only see her mother twice.
“I didn’t understand why she didn’t come for one weekend and then another,” the actress told People.

“Then you just hope she’ll come back and wonder why she didn’t.” It took me a while to realize that it wasn’t [my fault].”
The Love Is Blind host went on to say that she didn’t realize how deeply her childhood had affected her until she became pregnant with her first child.
“What I realized is that you don’t have to fall into those [same] patterns, and I didn’t,” she explained.
In 2011 Vanessa and Nick tied the knot.
“One thing I’ve learned about my wife is that she’s a fighter and so resilient,” her husband Nick added. If nothing else, [her experience] made her realize how important her children are to her.”
Vanessa revealed at the time that she had been estranged from her mother for more than two decades. “I would want to hear her story,” she said of the possibility of reconciliation. Carrying all that bitterness around is neither healthy nor healing.”
