NCIS fans have weighed in on whether CBS made the right decision by canceling NCIS New Orleans in an exclusive poll conducted by Express.co.uk.
It’s been over a year since Dwayne Pride (played by Scott Bakula) and Loretta Wade (CCH Pounder) said their final goodbyes to NCIS New Orleans, but their absence is still felt among NCIS fans. So much so that a new poll reveals that fans still believe CBS was wrong to cancel the cr1me spin-off.
After all, NCIS NOLA had a devoted following during its seven-season run on CBS from 2014 to 2021.
From Christopher LaSalle’s (Lucas Black) heartbreaking d3ath scene to Pride’s wedding day, there were several memorable moments.
CBS attempted to fill the void left by NOLA by launching NCIS Hawaii, which proved popular enough that it was quickly renewed for a second season, which is currently airing.
But this isn’t enough to convince Express.co.uk readers that CBS made the right decision by canceling the New Orleans-based spin-off, as 3,590 fans weighed in.
Readers were simply asked, “Should CBS have cancelled NCIS New Orleans?”
A staggering 77 percent of voters said no when given the choice of yes, no, or I don’t know.
This means that 2,759 of the 3,590 readers believe the decision to cancel NCIS New Orleans was a mistake.
In the end, only 16% of readers (564 votes) thought it was the right decision to end Pride and the team’s storylines.
While 267 people, or 7% of the vote, are still unsure if CBS made the right decision.
Despite the fact that fans overwhelmingly opposed the decision to cancel NOLA, there are currently no plans to reboot the show.
As previously stated, NCIS Hawaii, led by Vanessa Lachey, has filled the void left and continues to air on Monday evenings alongside the flagship drama’s 20th season.
In addition, as season 14 continues, NCIS Los Angeles continues to draw large audiences in its Sunday night slot on CBS.
However, there are plans for the NCIS universe to expand further, but this time it will not be on American soil.
Another spin-off of the long-running cr1me franchise, NCIS Sydney, is in the works for viewers.
Spoilers and information about the new series are scarce for the time being, but it is expected to premiere in 2023.
