NCIS Already Has The Best Jessica Knight Replacement But With 1 Big Caveat

As Season 21 of NCIS unfolded, CBS opted for a more subdued year-end special titled “Reef Madness.” In this episode, Alden Parker and his colleagues investigated multiple deaths on a ship destined to become an artificial reef. While the case initially appeared straightforward, the episode’s significance lay in the agents’ circumstances at the time.

Parker was seriously injured at the cr1me scene, putting his life in danger. Although he healed completely by the end of the episode, the plot laid the groundwork for future twists, such as the mystery surrounding Lily’s mysterious identity in season 22.

Jessica Knight had a significant decision to make when offered the position of Chief Training Officer for the REACT team at Camp Pendleton. Her acceptance of this role, confirmed by Director Leon Vance, signals a potential shift in the narrative. With Knight’s departure from the Major Case Response Team (MCRT), NCIS will have a vacancy to fill when Season 22 premieres.

Rather of inventing a new character to replace Knight, NCIS has the ideal replacement in mind: Jane Tennant. Following the acrimonious termination of NCIS: Hawaii, Tennant’s shift to MCRT might be easy. Tennant’s established character and links to the main NCIS series would make the move easier and continue her plot from NCIS: Hawaii.

However, for Tennant to join Parker’s squad, she must be downgraded to an NCIS Senior Field Agent, a significant adjustment from her role as Special Agent in Charge of the NCIS: Hawaii field office. Despite this challenge, integrating Tennant into the main series offers CBS and the NCIS creative team an opportunity to resolve her unresolved plotline without reviving NCIS: Hawaii.

While this solution may only be temporary, it preserves consistency and provides a logical conclusion to Tennant’s story. As fans anticipate the Season 22 debut, this prospective transfer promises to introduce new dynamics and interest to the NCIS crew.
