This season of NCIS marked a significant milestone.
The CBS cr1me drama is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, and Rocky Carroll, who plays Leon Vance on the show, recently hinted that Mark Harmon might return for the occasion.
Harmon, who also serves as an NCIS producer, left the popular show after season 19. While fans would love to see Harmon return to the show, even in a minor role, Carroll isn’t the only one who has hinted at his possible return.
Rocky Carroll, star of ‘NCIS,’ is open to Mark Harmon reprising his role as Leroy Gibbs.
Harmon has been an integral part of NCIS since the show’s inception in 2003. It’s only been a year since Harmon’s heartbreaking departure, but some of his co-stars still can’t get over the impact he had on the show.
Harmon has not confirmed his return to NCIS in the near future, but his former co-star, Rocky Carroll, recently revealed that Gibbs will make an appearance to commemorate the show’s 20th anniversary.
The actor, best known for his role as Leon Vance on the show, told Hello Magazine that fans may see Harmon return.
The only stipulation is that NCIS continue to air for a few more seasons.
“We might run into Gibbs again. “I think as long as this show is on the air, there will always be a hint that we might see Gibbs again,” Carroll explained.
The actor also stated that Gibbs serves as a moral compass on the show and is a role model for everyone else. This clearly opens the door for a future appearance, and Carroll isn’t the only one excited for the reunion.
Steven D. Binder, the show’s creator, believes fans will see Gibbs again.
Fans would undoubtedly love to see Harmon reprise his role as the iconic Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder wholeheartedly agrees.
Binder discussed the possibility of Harmon returning to the NCIS family in an interview with Parade. Although Binder did not confirm anything will happen this season, he did state confidently that Harmon will return at some point.
“I don’t see how we don’t see him again at some point,” Binder said. “Gibbs has, in my mind, advanced to a higher plane of existence for now—I don’t want to place him in an apartment in Anchorage or anywhere. We left him smiling and happy on a river, and that’s the image I want people to have until we’re truly ready to blow that out of the water or embrace it in some way.”
With Binder’s comments in mind, it’s clear that Harmon will be back – and his next appearance should be exciting. The only real question is when the actor will return and reunite with his co-stars.
Fans of ‘NCIS’ believed they knew when Mark Harmon would return.
Given all of the excitement surrounding Harmon’s return to NCIS, fans have been speculating about when they might see Gibbs again all season. And a recent episode seemed to portend an epic return.
The 450th episode seemed like the ideal opportunity to see Harmon in action. After all, not many shows have 450 episodes. Unfortunately, NCIS fans will have to wait a little longer for the next appearance of Gibbs.
However, the episode featured the return of Gary Cole’s (Alden Parker) father, Roman (Francis Xavier McCarthy), who last appeared in the season 19 finale. Unfortunately, Gibbs was not present in the episode.

I would love for Harmon to come back to the show it is not the same without him . I don’t much care for Gary Coleman in the role. Not that he isn’t a good actor but he is not Harmon
