Michael Strahan’s 19-year-old daughter, Isabella, has been candidly documenting her health journey in a Vlog series. On Wednesday, she shared the 12th installment after undergoing an unexpected second brain surgery. In the video, Isabella explains doctors might clean her scar or replace her bone, sharing her apprehension about the procedure.
On the morning before the procedure, Isabella admits to being worried but attempts to remain cheerful, joking, “Yay, how lucky am I to get another brain surgery?” Hours later, the film resumes with Isabella resting in a hospital bed, her head covered and her face swollen. She admits, “I am in so much pain…this sucks.”
Isabella reveals that her skull was cleaned due to infection and a bone replaced with a titanium plate. Despite the pain, she manages to joke, “Now I’m part titanium.” She explains that ongoing fevers following chemotherapy may have been caused by the infection, expressing hope for recovery and going home soon.
While Isabella admits the experience has been difficult, she stays optimistic, glad that she can still walk and communicate. She continues: “Getting your head cut open isn’t fun, but I’m glad I’m okay.” Later in the video, her condition improves, and she can be seen walking through the hospital once the head wrap is removed.
Both Isabella and her father, Michael, have been open about her cancer battle since her diagnosis earlier this year. In October, Isabella underwent emergency surgery to remove a cerebellum tumor. Her Vlog series aims to offer young people an honest perspective on living with cancer. Michael shared on Good Morning America that he is “extremely proud” of his daughter’s strength and resilience.
