Matthew Perry Revealed How He Wanted to Be Remembered Before His Passing Last Year

As the world nears the one-year anniversary of Matthew Perry’s passing, fans are reminded of his legacy and his heartfelt words about how he wished to be remembered.

The Friends star, well known for his portrayal of Chandler Bing, died on October 28, 2023, after being discovered comatose in a hot pool at his Los Angeles home.

In the year following his death, investigations led to the arrests of five individuals connected to his struggles with addiction. Among those implicated is Jasveen Sangha, known as the “Ketamine Queen,” who allegedly supplied Perry with a dangerous amount of ketamine.

US Attorney Martin Estrada noted that the accused “took advantage” of Perry’s vulnerabilities, and further information formed a troubling picture of a high-profile Hollywood narcotics operation.

Fans around the globe have continued to honor Perry, often recalling his words from a 2022 interview during his book tour for Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir. Asked how he’d like to be remembered, Perry said, “I would like to be remembered as somebody who lived well, loved well, was a seeker, and…wanted to help people.” His fans and friends have taken these words to heart, with many affirming that he will indeed be remembered this way.

Courtney Cox, Perry’s co-star and on-screen wife, recently told CBS Sunday Morning that she feels his presence frequently, saying, “I do sense, yeah, Matthew’s around for sure.”
