Marty Deeks is a well-known member of the cast of NCIS: Los Angeles, but he has also done a lot of work outside of his starring role on the NCIS spin-off.
Deeks appeared in two episodes of NCIS: LA during Season 1. Beginning with the Season 2 premiere, the character was promoted to full-time cast member and has remained so ever since.
Deeks is a character who contributes to the show’s comedy and emotion. With characters as serious as G. Callen, Hetty Lange, and Sam Hanna around, it was refreshing to hear Deeks cracking jokes. Kensi, on the other hand, has been quite serious at times.
The decision by the show’s producers to bring back Deeks in a full capacity during Season 2 was a wise one, with the character beginning as a liaison between the Los Angeles Police Department and the L.A. branch of NCIS.
Everything has changed during Season 12, but it appears that Deeks will still be on the show in some capacity, despite the loss of his position as a liaison.
On NCIS: Los Angeles, who plays Deeks?
Eric Christian Olsen plays Deeks in the film. As previously stated, Olsen first appeared on NCIS: Los Angeles during Season 1. Hand-to-Hand was the first episode he appeared in, and he would also appear in Fame. The character was mentioned in the episode Burned, but he did not appear on screen.
Olsen has appeared in a number of films, and he is now instantly recognizable. When Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels were unable to reprise their roles from Dumb and Dumber, the studio went in a different direction with new actors.
In the prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, Olsen played Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey’s character). It was every bit as bad as it sounds.
Olsen’s other notable film roles include Austin in Not Another Teen Movie, Chad in Cellular, and Nick Brady in Fired Up!.
Olsen appeared on TV in four episodes of Community as Vaughn, six episodes of Brothers & Sisters as Kyle DeWitt, and four episodes of Tru Calling as Jensen Ritchie.
More from Eric Christian Olsen on NCIS: Los Angeles to come.
Some NCIS: Los Angeles fans were concerned that Eric Christian Olsen would be leaving the show and that we wouldn’t see Marty Deeks again. In a recent interview, on-screen wife Daniela Ruah appears to have put those rumors to rest.
And we believe Ruah because she is married to Olsen’s brother.
