Will Mark Harmon Make A Return on NCIS for Season 22?

Fans of NCIS have been eagerly speculating about the return of Mark Harmon, who left the show in Season 19. According to NCIS executive producer Steven Binder, the question of Harmon’s return is a recurring topic of discussion among the writers. “We always ask that question,” Binder said. “When the writers get together, we consider if there’s a way to incorporate him. As we go through the season, we evaluate if any of our stories could naturally include his character.”

Binder underlined the significance of weaving Harmon’s prospective comeback into an engaging story. “We don’t want to make his absence feel like he’s just been hanging out at an Airbnb in Anchorage,” he told me. “It needs to be meaningful and appropriate to the storyline, which is why we keep his whereabouts vague.”

In a recent interview with Parade, Harmon addressed the ongoing speculation about his return. “I’ve been asked a lot about coming back,” Harmon said at a Television Critics Association panel for NCIS: Origins, a project he will executive produce and narrate. “I trust the writers and respect their direction for the show. I was comfortable with how the storyline unfolded. It’s all about trust and collaboration with the people I’ve worked with for so long.”

While there is no definitive plan for Harmon’s return, it is apparent that both the show’s creators and Harmon are open to the possibility, depending on how the plots progress.
