Mark Harmon Cancelled ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ Due to Scott Bakula Feud

Is Mark Harmon to blame for NCIS: New Orleans’ cancellation…? According to one newspaper, Harmon canceled the show to destroy his rival Scott Bakula.

‘I’ve Been Stabbed In The Bak-ula!’

The Boston Globe reports that “Mark Harmon plotted to have NCIS: New Orleans canceled and rival Scott Bakula taken off the air.”

Harmon “wanted to save his own series from declining ratings and felt Scott… was stealing his spotlight,” according to sources.

Harmon used his CBS power to remove Bakula because he “saw how fans were reacting to Scott and he didn’t like it.”

Sources claim that the two had been feuding “since the ’90s, when Mark captured hearts on Chicago Hope and Scott won a slew of awards on Quantum Leap.”

Harmon’s “old insecurities and jealousy started to fester again,” according to a source, so he used the declining ratings of NCIS: New Orleans as “the excuse” for cancellation.

The piece concludes, “CBS gives Mark whatever he wants because there wouldn’t be an NCIS without him – and he knows it!”

Scott Bakula and Mark Harmon are fine.

Mark Harmon and Scott Bakula get along just well. Harmon was the show’s executive producer, and when it first aired, he stated of Bakula, “I’ve known Scott for years, and he’s worked with my wife, and we’ve known the same people and run into each other a bunch of times.”

Why would Harmon entrust Bakula with a spin-off series only to abandon him seven years later? It just doesn’t make sense. This item also claimed that NCIS was on the verge of cancellation owing to low ratings, but it fails to note that it is still the highest-rated drama series on television.

Harmon did not cancel a program that he creates to exact 30 years of revenge. NCIS: New Orleans was canceled in part to create place for a new spin-off, NCIS: Hawaii, which earned decent ratings over its seven-year run. This is a fake and misleading story.

Other Jokes by Mark Harmon

Gossip Cop exposed the Globe in 2019 for erroneously saying Harmon was leaving NCIS. He’s still on the hit program, but that hasn’t prevented tabloids from spreading rumors about him.

The National Enquirer routinely targets Mark Harmon. It reportedly alleged that he was an unpleasant hermit on site, and it created a rivalry between Harmon and Tom Selleck. Tabloids seem to adore inventing rivalries for Harmon. NCIS: New Orleans’ termination was not motivated by a personal grudge against Scott Bakula.
