Mariah Carey Shares Heartbreaking Loss: Mother and Sister Pass Away on the Same Day

In a deeply emotional revelation, Mariah Carey announced on Monday that she has suffered a devastating double loss. The iconic singer shared that her mother, Patricia Carey, and her sister, Alison Carey, both passed away over the weekend-on the same day.

In a touching statement to ABC News, Carey conveyed her tremendous grief: “My heart is devastated that I lost my mother this weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister died on the same day.”

Carey added, “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

No further details regarding the causes of their deaths were provided in the statement.

The five-time Grammy winner has always remained close to her family. In 2019, she posted a rare and touching Instagram photo with her mother, captioned, “Happy Mother’s Day to my mom, Patricia.”

Mariah Carey, known for her iconic holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” is also a loving mother herself. She shares 13-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, with ex-husband Nick Cannon. In addition to her twins, Carey has an older brother, Morgan. Her father, Alfred Roy Carey, passed away in 2002.

Despite her personal sorrow, Carey is still committed to her career. She recently finished the summer run of her “Celebration of Mimi” musical engagement in Las Vegas, and she celebrated with an Instagram post filled with thanks and excitement. The residency is scheduled to continue in January 2025.

Additionally, Carey is gearing up for her much-anticipated “Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time” tour, a 20-city holiday extravaganza kicking off on November 6 and running through December 17.

As the world mourns with her, Mariah Carey continues to shine, both as an artist and as a person, reminding us of her incredible strength and resilience during this unimaginably difficult time.
