The NCIS universe is buzzing with developments, especially with NCIS: Hawaii’s recent cancellation and the upcoming NCIS: Origins, a prequel series exploring Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ early days as an agent in the ’90s.
This prequel promises a fresh look into Gibbs’ history, delving into his early relationships, including characters like his father Jackson, Mike Franks, and Special Agent Vera Strickland. However, fans are curious-and somewhat cautious-about how much it may alter the established backstory from NCIS’s 19 seasons.
Interestingly, NCIS: Origins co-showrunners David North and Gina Monreal have hinted that younger versions of NCIS spin-off characters, such as Dwayne Pride from NCIS: New Orleans and Hetty Lange from NCIS: Los Angeles, may emerge. While nothing is fixed in stone, these cameos may strengthen relationships inside the NCISverse.
Dwayne Pride’s presence seems plausible, as he and Gibbs share a backstory, being members of the “Fed Five” who tackled the Privileged K1ller. Hetty’s appearance might be more complex to orchestrate, though if NCIS: Origins continues, writers could introduce her through familiar faces like Callen.
Though not the return NCIS: Los Angeles fans hoped for, a youthful Hetty cameo in NCIS: Origins might disclose her mysterious activities in the 1990s, providing viewers with a new perspective on the character.
