John Capodice, the veteran actor known for roles in Seinfeld and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, passed away Monday at age 83. The news was shared on the Pizzi Funeral Home website, describing him as a “devoted husband, father, and grandfather.” A cause of death has not been disclosed.
Capodice was born on Christmas Day in 1941 in Chicago and served in the United States Army in Korea from 1964 to 1966 before beginning his acting career in the late 1970s. He has appeared in a number of notable films and television episodes, including Wall Street, The Doors, Honeymoon in Vegas, and Independence Day.
In Ace Ventura, he played a skeptical police officer, while on Seinfeld, he portrayed Vic, the laundromat owner in the episode “The Revenge.” Capodice also had roles on General Hospital, Law & Order, The West Wing, Murder, She Wrote, and Six Feet Under.
