In the 19th season of CBS drama NCIS, Mark Harmon stepped down from his iconic role as Agent Leroy Gibbs, leaving fans devastated.
Many fans are hoping that the 71-year-old will return to the show as the season 20 finale approaches. So, when can we expect to see Mark on our screens? Here’s everything we know…
Mark signed with Gersh, one of America’s leading talent agencies, in February. Gersh represents an impressive roster of award-winning clients, including actors, writers, producers, and directors.
While Mark’s plans following his recent signing have yet to be revealed, we imagine the star has projects in the works.
Will Mark Harmon be back on NCIS?
Fans have been pleading with Mark to return to the show since his final episode as Agent Gibbs aired in 2021. So, will he ever come back?
In a recent interview with TV Insider, Mark’s friend and co-star Rocky Carroll addressed the possibility. “We might run into Gibbs again,” he speculated. “I believe that as long as this show is on the air, there will always be a hint that we might see Gibbs again.”
“Gibbs is the moral guide. “He’s the moral compass we all wish we had,” he continued.
The cast and crew of the show have repeatedly expressed their desire to see Mark return to the set and have teased his possible return. “I really, truly believe that the Gibbs could pop up somewhere,” Sean Murray, who plays Timothy McGee, told Parade last year. I firmly believe that such a scenario is possible.”
“I don’t see how we don’t see him one more time at some point,” showrunner Steven D. Binder said of Mark’s return, according to TV Insider.
Furthermore, because Mark is still listed as an executive producer on the show, it’s safe to say that if and when the actor wants to reprise his role, he’d be welcomed back with open arms.
