Donnie Wahlberg recently revealed that he now owns the Reagan family’s iconic dining table from Blue Bloods, a piece of the show’s legacy.
After 14 seasons, CBS has decided to cancel the popular series, leaving fans disappointed. As the show nears its finale, Wahlberg shared his plans for the table in an interview with PEOPLE. He explained that he had no initial intention of taking anything from the set, but when he learned the table was sitting in a warehouse, he decided to bring it home.
He plans to move it between Wahlburgers locations, beginning in St. Charles, Illinois, where fans can sit at the table and snap photos. It will eventually be raffled for charity, with the proceeds benefiting the DEA’s Widows and Children’s Fund.
The dining table is symbolic of the show’s balance between police procedural and family drama, with the Reagan family dinners being a key part of Blue Bloods. Wahlberg’s gesture allows fans to connect with the series’ heartwarming moments, offering them a chance to be part of the Reagan family’s conversations.
Blue Bloods‘ cancelation is part of CBS’s overall cost-cutting strategy, which includes replacing established hits like Blue Bloods with newer shows, despite the show’s sustained popularity. Wahlberg’s move is a tiny but meaningful way to reward long-time followers for their support.
