Blue Bloods Star Donnie Wahlberg Accused of Accidentally Spoiling the Series Finale: ‘The Only Logical Storyline’

Blue Bloods’ finale is soon approaching, and fans believe they know how the long-running procedural will conclude.

On June 13, 2024, Donnie Wahlberg, who stars as Detective Danny Reagan, shared a behind-the-scenes video of the cast dancing to New Kids on the Block’s “Get Down.” Wahlberg revealed that it was a “bittersweet day on set,” so the cast decided to try the infamous Get Down Dance Challenge to “lighten the mood.”

Fans noticed the formal attire worn by some cast members and began to speculate about the series finale, which is planned to debut in the fall of 2024. One Reddit user speculated that Jamie and Eddie’s outfit indicated they were promoted to lieutenant, leaving Danny and Joe Hill as detectives. Another suggested that the cast was filming Frank’s retirement celebration. However, showrunner Kevin Wade has downplayed the idea of Frank Reagan retiring, highlighting that his post as Police Commissioner generates tales.

In Wahlberg’s post, some fans theorized the cast was dressed for a funeral, noting Sammie’s dress and Jamie’s white shirt with sergeant stripes. This led to speculation about the possible death of Henry Reagan, Frank’s father. Fans were also excited to see Sami Gayle (Nicky Reagan-Boyle) and Tony Terraciano (Jack Reagan) back on set, as their characters have been relatively absent in recent seasons.

The long-running CBS procedural was discontinued in November 2023, causing fans and cast members to call for its resurrection. Despite these attempts, the network has committed to terminate Blue Bloods with Season 14. However, a prospective spin-off is reported to be in the works, while nothing has been formally confirmed.
