Daniela Ruah, who plays Agent Kensi Blye on NCIS: Los Angeles, recently discussed how her character’s journey into parenthood matched some of her own experiences as a mother. During Season 14, Kensi and Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) struggled with pregnancy and decided to foster a teenager named Rosa Reyes (Natalia Del Riego).
In an interview on The Wayne Ayers Podcast, Ruah opened up about how she could relate to Kensi’s insecurities as a parent. Although her own children are younger, Ruah said she understands the complexities of parenting, especially the challenges of fostering a teenager with a fully formed personality. She enjoyed portraying Kensi’s struggle with doubts, like whether she’s doing too much or too little.
Ruah, who has two children with her husband, David Paul Olsen (brother of her co-star Eric Christian Olsen), praised the emotional depth of Kensi’s plot. Fans were particularly moved by the Season 14 conclusion, in which Kensi revealed she was expecting, bringing joy to her family. Unfortunately, this season also marked the conclusion of NCIS: Los Angeles, so fans won’t get to see how Kensi and Deeks adjust to life with a newborn.
Beyond NCIS: LA, Ruah has starred in the Netflix Portuguese drama Turn of the Tide. While her IMDb page hasn’t been updated with new projects, fans are eager to see what she’ll tackle next.
