Tom Selleck, well known for his role as Magnum in the legendary 1980s television series “Magnum P.I.,” recently arranged for his longtime friend and former co-star Larry Manetti to appear on an episode of “Blue Bloods.”
Manetti’s role as Sam Velucci in the episode “Family Matters” was specifically written for him by executive producer Kevin Wade. Although Selleck and Manetti didn’t share any scenes, Selleck ensured Manetti felt welcome, sharing his dressing room and dining with him and his wife Nancy.
Reflecting on their 45-year acquaintance, Manetti lauded Selleck’s warmth and compared him to “a delicious bar of chocolate.” Despite not acting together on screen, their friendship is strong.
In a delightful anecdote, Manetti recounted how he convinced Frank Sinatra to guest star on “Magnum P.I.,” showcasing the camaraderie within the entertainment industry.
The actor praised the episode involving Manetti, as well as the cast and crew of “Blue Bloods.” Manetti, an author, has written a book named “Aloha Magnum,” which provides insights into his experience on “Magnum P.I.”
Selleck’s gesture of bringing Manetti onto “Blue Bloods” demonstrates the enduring friendship between the two actors, resonating with fans of both series.
