Dr. Jimmy Palmer, played by Brian Dietzen on NCIS, has become one of the show’s breakout characters over the course of its 20-season run, thanks to small moments that highlight his personality.
The long-running show’s official Instagram page shared a short clip of Jimmy and Gary Cole’s Special Agent Alden Parker interacting.
Parker was seen eating a pastry at the time and was warned by the medical examiner not to “eat while the body is on the table” as he examined a cadaver.
Jimmy’s more neurotic personality and desire to follow a set structure when in his space were highlighted in a snippet from the latest episode of the show, which featured more conversation between the pair.
The caption alongside the video read, “First rule of Jimmy’s lab: No eating near the cadavers,” and fans had plenty to say about it.
“I read this as’no eating the cadavers’ and was mildly concerned that it wasn’t obvious enough without directly stating it lol,” one joked, while another added, “Should be true of any lab really.”
Fans took notice of Brian and Gary’s dynamic.
A third sided with Agent Parker, writing, “Parker eating pistachio = my perfect man,” and a fourth, “He wouldn’t say that to Gibbs if he did that.” #BringGibbsBack.”
Brian has been a recurring character on the show since its first season, first as a recurring character, then as a “also starring” role in season six, and finally as a main cast member in season ten.
Brian is not only one of the show’s longest-running cast members, but he also holds a distinction that no one else on the cast does.
Beginning with “The Helpers” in season 19, the actor became the first of the main cast members to co-write an episode in 2022.
The episode was a hit, so much so that a year later, on February 13 of this year, Brian’s second episode as a co-writer, titled “Old Wounds,” became the show’s 448th episode overall.
